Beyond the Glass by Sussie Anie
Beyond the glass
The haughty eyes
Began to laugh
As the disguise
Of paint and powder
Ink and pride
Grew harder louder
Redefined
Traces of
Dark symmetry
The face’s harsh
Geometry
Fissures, smudges
Erased and filled
Permanent blushes
Layered until
The pristine teeth of canvas white
Emerged again to throw dead light
